The burger chef Jamie Oliver has just won a battle against the largest chain of junk food in the world. Once Oliver showed how to do burgers, McDonald's, the franchise announced that it will change the recipe.
According to Oliver, the fatty parts of the meat are "washed" with ammonium hydroxide and then used in the making of the 'cake' of meat to fill the burger. Before this process, according to the presenter, and the meat was unfit for human consumption.
Oliver, chef radical activist, who has assumed a war against the food industry, says: we are talking about meat that had been sold as food for dogs and after this process serves to humans. Apart from the quality of the meat, ammonium hydroxide is harmful to health. Oliver says this: "The Process of Crap Rose".
What man in his right mind would put a piece of meat soaked in ammonium hydroxide in the mouth of a child?
In another of his initiatives are Oliver demonstrated how chicken nuggets: After selecting the 'best bits', the rest: fat, skins, cartilage, organs, bones, head, legs, are subjected to mechanical separation Liquefied- is the euphemism used by food engineers, and then that blood-pink paste is desodorada, discolored, reodorizada and repainted, capeadas on farinaceous and fried marshmallow, this is usually reboiler in partially hydrogenated oils, ie toxic.
In USA, Burger King and Taco Bell have already abandoned the use of ammonia in their products. The food industry uses ammonium hydroxide as an anti-microbial agent, which has allowed McDonald's to use in their beef burgers, input unfit for human consumption.
But even more annoying is the situation that these ammonium hydroxide-based substances are considered 'legitimate components production procedures' in the food industry with the blessings of health authorities worldwide. So consumers can never be found out what chemicals they put in our food.
